Project description

The large-scale solar thermal system at Georgbrücke in Chemnitz covers an area of 3,200 square meters and uses solar radiation to heat water. If there is insufficient solar radiation, additional energy from the district heating network is used to achieve the desired temperature. The project is part of the LowEx district heating network in Chemnitz's Brühl district and is funded by the city of Chemnitz, the federal government and the Free State of Saxony. In collaboration with Chemnitz University of Technology, the system is designed to efficiently integrate renewable energies into the heat supply. By connecting to the district heating network, households will benefit from a proportion of environmentally friendly energy.
